Ivan was admitted as a solicitor in New Zealand in 1965 and has practised at partnership level since that time in New Zealand, Hong Kong and on the Gold Coast since August 1980.
Ivan began specialising in franchising, licensing and intellectual property in 1988 and has subsequently advised hundreds of Franchisors.
Ivan has vast experience in all manner of commercial matters having practised in commercial law firms in New Zealand and Hong Kong before moving to the Gold Coast in 1980 as a partner at Primrose Couper Cronin Rudkin.
Ivan first began advising franchising clients in 1988 and has focused his practice on franchising and intellectual property since that time prior to the existence of a Franchising Code of Conduct and through all amendments to the original 1998 Code.
Ivan has developed the IP Partnership suite of documents for franchising clients which are both fully compliant with the Franchising Code of Conduct but also commercially acceptable to potential Franchisees enabling the documentation process to be streamlined as much as possible.
Ivan believes that any commercial requirement can be documented and the preparation of such documents across a broad range of legal areas is his main specialty.
Ivan has a speedy turnaround of documentation which is commercially important and operates at a high standard with up-to-date regulation compliant documentation that is also well accepted in the market place.
Outside of law, Ivan is a passionate traveller both on overseas vacations and also exploring Australia with his wife in their motor home.
